Italian ingredient brand Thermore, which specializes in the research, development and production of thermal insulation for apparel, has launched a recycled version of EVOdown, a wrapped type of blow-in fiber made from 100 percent recycled fibers from PET bottles. According to the manufacturer, EVOdown bridges the gap between free fibers and traditional padding, offering the ultra-soft feel and luxurious drape of blow-in fibers in a rolled form. Hybrid technology, as it is known among consumers, offers greater production and manufacturing efficiencies. EVOdown is composed of millions of free fibers encased in two enclosing outer layers. According to Thermore, clothing made from EVOdown will be lightweight and easy to care for. EVOdown is another step toward sustainability for the Milan-based company, which has now converted more than 97 percent of its sales to insulation made entirely or partially from recycled fibers. Thermore pioneered the use of recycled fibers in the early 1980s and is now on its way to becoming completely self-sufficient, the company said.
