After losing the hosting of the Esports World Championships to competitor MyWhoosh, Zwift has announced that it will host the “largest cycling e-sports event ever held”: the “Zwift Games,” a new multi-format competition open to the entire cycling esports community.

The Zwift Games are designed to give every cyclist the opportunity to experience a fun and challenging virtual competition and compete against thousands of other Zwifters. They also offer an open qualifying route to the Zwift Games Elite Finals and the chance to be crowned Zwift Games Champion. The qualifying races will take place at the end of February 2024, with the Zwift Games Elite Finals taking place in the first two weeks of March 2024. The Zwift Games will crown the men’s and women’s champions in the three medal disciplines (Sprint Championship, Epic Championship and Hill Climb Championship) as well as the overall men’s and women’s champions. The winners will also take home some of the biggest prize money ever at Zwift.

Any Zwifter from around the world can attend one of the Championship events and experience one of the races. Zwifters who wish to participate in the games without competing for the title of Zwift Games Champion can take part in community events associated with each championship. This open competition promises to make the Zwift Games the most democratic cycling e-sports championship ever. As with all Zwift races, equality will also play a central role. Race distances will be equal for men and women, and prize money will be split equally.

Further details, including exact dates, formats, information on global broadcasts and the distribution of prize money, will be announced in December.
