Reebok has introduced the “digital shoe experience” we reported on back in December. Reebok Impact, as the service is called, will imprint digital Reebok sneakers with an image, for your metaverse avatar to wear. You send by direct message (DM) whatever image you choose to @reebokimpact on Instagram and receive in return a sneaker decorated with the features of that image. Most of the decoration goes into the upper, while the original photo image goes onto the sole – to represent, as Futureverse says, “the impact of the memory on the soul.”

Futureverse, a metaverse company headquartered in New Zealand, is the provider of the decoration, through generative AI. The image substitutes for generative AI’s usual the text prompts. Three Reebok models are available for this digital custom job: Pump, Classic Leather and Club C.

The outputted sneakers are computer files compatible with Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) and Roblox, with the promise of more to come – for example, the forthcoming massively multiplayer online (MMO) game OPEN.

You can feed images for four pairs of sneakers free of charge. Every pair thereafter, according to Footwear News, will cost $7.99.
