Decathlon Spain has become a professional vendor on Wallapop, the Spanish consumer-to-consumer (C2C) marketplace for second-hand goods.

As Diffusion Sport reports, the company has – in an extension of its Second Life program – listed about 20,000 items of used sporting goods for sale so far (that is, since early 2024), and the number should rise as more stores begin to partake.

Wallapop is a like a Craigslist brought up to date. It is of course designed for the internet but as viewed through smartphones, rather than desktop browsers. And it operates on the freemium model. As Vizologi outlines, individual vendors may list and sell free of charge or choose the “Bump Up” option, for high placement in search results, or the “Spotlight” option, for even more visibility. Wallapop also charges a commission on items sold through its delivery service. There are also in-app advertisements.

For Pro vendors Wallapop offers tiers of service, the top tier costing €229 per month for listings of up to 2,000 items. It would seem, then, that Decathlon has negotiated a separate deal.

Wallapop was founded in 2013 and is headquartered in Barcelona.
