According to a LinkedIn post by Rottefella, the company, together with Madhus, won a patent lawsuit against Amer Sports and its Salomon and Atomic brands at the Oslo District Court. The lawsuit involved patent rights for detachable bindings for cross-country skis and a solution for easy adjustment and installation of bindings on skis. Rottefella sells the Move binding, which uses this technology. It can be slid back and forth on the ski without the skier having to remove the ski. In January 2021, Salomon launched the Prolink Shift-in binding, which also allows skiers to adjust/move the binding without removing their skis. Rottefella believed that the Prolink Shift-in was too similar to the patented Rottefella Move binding, and therefore sued Amer Sports for patent infringement. Amer Sports then claimed that Rottefella’s patent was invalid. Rottefella was now awarded compensation of more than 25 million Norwegian kroner (about €2.43 million). “We are very pleased with the outcome of the judgment and consider it an important victory for all innovation-driven companies,” commented Torstein Myklebostad, CEO of Rottefella.
