Speedo is commemorating its 90th anniversary this year with a brand campaign entitled Water Baby Forever. The campaign is a celebration of swimming as an activity accessible to everyone regardless of age, ability or experience in the water. As part of its 90th birthday celebrations, Speedo has announced that it wants to use the occasion to raise awareness among “water babies” and the new generations of the need to preserve the world's oceans. The company said that celebrating is also about using its position to highlight the global problem of plastic pollution in the oceans, and to do something positive about it. On June 8, the U.K. and Australia will each host an ocean clean in honor of World Oceans Day. Speedo claims that at least 15 percent of its collections feature sustainable materials, using a fabric created from Econyl yarn and Repet yarn - innovative regenerated fibers which turn waste from fishing nets, manufacturing by-products and plastic bottles into first grade nylon fabric. Speedo plans to increase the share of its collections featuring sustainable materials to 26 percent by 2019.
