With padel participation in Britain more than doubling in a single year, the arrival of a top-tier professional circuit event underscores the sport’s rapid commercial momentum — and the LTA’s growing ambitions beyond tennis.

The Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour will stage its first UK edition in London this summer, as Premier Padel and Sela formalized their commitment to the British market through a multi-year commercial agreement.

The event — London Premier Padel P1 — runs at Olympia in Kensington from Aug. 3–9. Classified as a P1 event, it sits one tier below the tour’s Major category, ranking it among the circuit’s most prestigious non-Major stops. Production and commercialization are handled by Sela, a Saudi-based sports and entertainment company, with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) serving as the national governing body partner.

A market primed for its first elite event

Padel in Britain is growing fast. LTA data show padel participation in Britain more than doubled in a single year, rising from 400,000 to 860,000 players. While the UK still trails the sport’s established strongholds in Spain and Sweden, the trajectory has been sufficient to attract a top-tier professional event — and a multi-year commitment from international rights holders.

Olympia as the stage

The tournament will be held in the heritage exhibition halls of Olympia, a West London venue currently undergoing a £1.3 billion (approximately €1.55 billion; rate to be confirmed at publication) regeneration into a mixed-use entertainment destination. The London P1 is among the first professional sporting events to be staged at the site as part of that repositioning.

Tickets and broadcast

Tickets are available through Ticketmaster across three windows: a Sela pre-sale on April 22, an LTA Advantage Members pre-sale on April 23, and general sale from April 24 — all opening at 9:00 am BST. From the quarter-finals onward, matches will be broadcast on Red Bull TV; earlier rounds stream free on the Premier Padel YouTube channel.
