By appointing PT SportSuite to build its entire digital platform before launch, Ultimate Sevens is treating fan acquisition and media infrastructure as founding commercial assets – the same logic that will underpin its pitch to eventual private investors in each of its 12 teams.
PT SportSuite has been appointed digital platform supplier for Ultimate Sevens, the new global rugby sevens championship backed by Bia Sports Group, the investment firm that also owns English Premier League club Sunderland. The South Africa-based digital media consultancy will build the technical infrastructure underpinning Ultimate Sevens’ online operations, spanning media management, web platforms and mobile fan engagement.
The scope goes beyond a standard website build. PT SportSuite is tasked with creating an integrated digital platform, a mobile-first fan experience and a centralized AI-driven media workflow – three components intended to manage how the championship tells its story across channels and handles content at scale.
The championship launched in London this month. It will hold events in Wales, France and Spain before a grand final at Gtech Community Stadium – home of Brentford Football Club – in late September. There will be six teams in each of the men’s and women’s editions, with around 75 contracted players already signed. Reebok was announced earlier this month as the series’ official kit partner.
