The World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI) will be holding its sixth World Manufacturers Forum (WMF) on Dec. 11-12 in Ho Chi Minh City. The theme is “Manufacturing 4.0: Steps towards a Future Vision.” In keeping with this theme, the WMF will be dividing the program into four parts: software and innovation, the changing workforce, the implementation of the 4.0 industry, and raw-materials disruption. Among the topics for discussion are Blockchain, real-time visibility and decision-making, cost-saving entry points to 4.0, and the transition from natural to synthetic fabrics. The speakers will be Nick Russell, of the start-up incubator IDEA London; Martin Strommer, advisor to the board of nCinga Innovations, an Industry 4.0 consultancy in Singapore; Catherine Cole, executive director for Alvanon, an apparel-industry consultancy based in Hong Kong; Harry Nurmansyah, senior director of field operations and social and environmental affairs in Indonesia for the Adidas Group; Christian Decker, chief executive of DESM; Jonas Wand, chief sales officer at Foursource, the Berlin-based apparel-industry sourcing platform; Kanji Kajiwara, a research fellow at Shinshu University, in Japan; and Marius Janta, a consultant at WT Wearable Technologies, the German innovation and marketing platform for body-related devices. Raimund Klein, executive vice president of Siemens in Singapore, will be hosting a morning workshop on the second day.
