Intersport Germany’s order show, called redblue, opened its doors on Sunday for the 100th time in Heilbronn. Six times a year, about 80 exhibitors and 600 to 800 retail members meet for 5 days per show to order the new collections. Despite the anniversary, the corona pandemic made it impossible to celebrate as planned. In addition to the physical trade fairs at its head office, Intersport Germany has been offering a virtual trade show since July. In only six weeks, it developed a new online format in cooperation with Best IT and Spryker. The eight-day virtual event started with a presentation by Nike and was followed by Intersport’s own exclusive brands and the models of 17 other suppliers. In  total, more than 25,000 products were shown on the new digital platform by 150 salespeople, resulting in actual orders. Intersport Germany also held a physical trade show in August, hosting 46 brands specializing in apparel for outdoor, swimming and leisure. At the current physical fair, 47 brands are exhibiting, focusing on sports equipment and outdoor shoes. At the same time, virtual product presentations were made on the new online platform by 11 suppliers in August, and four are making them now. With the experience gained from the first virtual edition, the platform will be successively expanded and optimized for future events.
