The Authentic Brands Group (ABG), which is in line to complete its acquisition of Reebok during the first quarter of 2022, has reportedly signed a deal to buy 55 percent of the shares in DB Ventures from David Beckham for $269 million. The company manages the former popular English football star’s endorsements including his partnerships with Adidas, H&M and Tudor, a brand of watches.

There is some speculation that ABG may transfer David Beckham’s endorsement of Adidas over to Reebok after its takeover of the brand. His wife Victoria Beckham, whose business is losing money, teamed up with Reebok in 2019 for a collection of sweatshirts, socks, leggings, sports bras, hats, backpacks and other products. She said that Shaquille O’Neal, a former ambassador of Reebok and a shareholder in ABG, had inspired her designs.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated development, Puma has inked a sponsorship deal with Beckham’s son, Romeo Beckham, who plays for the Fort Lauderdale CF football club in Florida. According to the Daily Mail, he has received a £1.2 million (€1.4m-$1.6m) signing fee from Puma.

The Wild Cat has also signed up Jorginho (alias Jorge Luiz Frello Filho), the Brazilian-born midfielder for the English Chelsea club who also plays for the Italian national team sponsored by Puma. Jorginho, who was previously sponsored by Nike, was named UEFA Men’s Player of the Year in 2021, finishing third in the Ballon d’Or rankings.

Romeo Beckham and Jorginho will both wear Puma’s FUTURE Z football boots.
