Brussels-based Cross-Border Commerce Europe (CBCommerce), the platform that stimulates cross-border e-commerce in Europe, has released the fifth edition of “TOP 500 Cross-Border Retail Europe,” a research paper that ranks the 500 strongest European players with a focus on cross-border performance. Adidas Group took the 10th spot in the latest edition of the ranking. Ikea maintained the leading position, with a cross-border turnover of €5.6 billion (+1.8% compared to 2021). Lidl took the 2nd spot, followed by Zalando, H&M, Lego, Zara, JYSK, Bauhaus, and Notino, to complete the Top 10.

Cross-border e-commerce revenues (excluding travel) reached €179.4 billion in 2022, an increase of 4.8 percent compared to 2021. B2C online cross-border sales through European (including U.K.) sellers reached a record high of €105.5 billion, representing a 5.5 percent increase versus 2021. The U.K. lost its number one position as the top European cross-border country to Germany and dropped to No. 2, followed by France, Spain and The Netherlands.

The study was produced by CBCommerce with the support of Checkout.com, FedEx Express and Payoneer. The ranking is obtained by weighing four parameters: online cross-border sales in Europe (15 countries within Western Europe and Scandinavia, and the U.K.); SEO indicators covering cross-border performance; cross-border score determined on the number of active countries; and number and percentage of cross-border visitors.
