US Ski & Snowboard has unveiled its uniforms for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, marking Italian brand Kappa’s first collection as the team’s official apparel supplier.
The collection features distinct competition and podium looks designed to blend heritage aesthetics with modern performance requirements. Competition uniforms incorporate navy, red, and white colorways with Kappa’s signature Omini logo tape detail, while podium suits feature varsity-style jackets in red and navy with vintage-inspired striping.
The partnership between US Ski & Snowboard and Kappa, announced in May 2022, represents the brand’s return to elite winter sports after decades away from Olympic competition. The 10-year agreement runs through the 2032 season, making Kappa the official technical apparel partner. The Italian company previously supplied ski teams in the 1980s and 1990s before shifting focus to other sports
Design draws from 1984 Los Angeles Olympics
The uniform design takes direct inspiration from the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, referencing that era’s distinctive American team aesthetic. Signature design elements include bands of stars running down arms and legs echoing the American flag, combined with bold “USA” lettering across the collection.
The traditional red, white and blue outerwear incorporates American iconography through stars and stripes, reinterpreting the visual language of that edition of the Games. Flag-inspired patches and classic graphic details emphasise patriotic themes throughout both competition and podium pieces.
The podium collection features color-blocked jackets with ribbed cuffs and collars reminiscent of varsity letterman styles, paired with matching pants featuring side striping. Competition suits prioritize aerodynamics and weather protection while maintaining the retro aesthetic through strategic color placement and logo application.
The collection uses technical fabrics designed for alpine conditions, though specific performance specifications were not disclosed in the announcement. The design approach aligns with broader fashion industry trends favoring 1980s and 1990s sportswear revival, particularly in categories where vintage athletic wear has gained commercial traction.
