The Cisalfa Group has opened the first Intersport Superstore in Italy, a new format of multi-brand sports stores. This is a key part of the Italian group’s expansion plan to diversify its offerings and appeal to a broad and diverse customer base to reach new market segments and better respond to the different needs of consumers.

The first Intersport Superstore was opened in Reana del Rojale (UD). Further openings in 2024 are planned, including in June in Tavagnacco (UD) and Tor Vergata (RM), as well as four more Intersport Superstores by the end of 2025. This will bring the total number of new employees to over 400 and the total investment to €11.5 million.

“We are proud to continue to actively contribute to the economic growth, employment and commercial development of our country with the opening of the new Intersport Superstores,” said Boris Zanoletti, General Director of the Cisalfa Group. “We believe in a world where well-being comes from sport.” To achieve these goals, the group is continuously investing in innovation and taking an omnichannel approach.

The new Intersport Superstores, which focus on sustainability, are designed to improve the shopping experience and reduce energy waste. These stores aim to simplify product discovery and purchase, making the shopping experience intuitive and memorable for the customer. The spaces are also distinguished by their large square footage, exceeding 2,500 sqm, and by offering an intuitive shopping experience through subdivision by sport, genre and price range. In addition, a range of special services will be offered. There will be special corners for tennis racket stringing, bicycle maintenance and repair and a personalized printing service for clothing.

News of the new business venture in Italy comes shortly after Cisalfa’s announcement of a development plan in Germany. More than €50 million in investment has been earmarked for this plan, which aims to exceed 80 stores by the end of 2025. Growth plans include the relaunch of SportScheck, which Cisalfa acquired in March 2024. The Italian group also took over another German retail group, Sport Voswinkel, in November 2023.
