Frasers Group, the owner of Sports Direct and House of Fraser, has purchased gym and fitness wear specialist WIT Fitness. The retail group has acquired the assets and intellectual property of the London-based sports performance brand. Frasers Group is majority-owned by British retail tycoon Mike Ashley.
WIT Fitness is best known for its high-intensity CrossFit program, which has affiliations with around 12,000 gyms worldwide. The company currently employs 15 people.
In December 2023, Frasers Group agreed to buy luxury clothing e-tailer Matchesfashion for £52 million (€60.9m). The new acquisition further bolsters Fraser’s sports portfolio, which includes, in addition to Sports Direct, also Evans Cycles, Lillywhites, Everlast, Everlast Gyms and USC.
