A coincidence of surnames has produced an unusual sponsorship: Austrian ski jumping equipment maker Fischer Sports and the German fastening-technology group fischer, unrelated by ownership, have agreed a partnership running through 2030 that puts a fastening product directly onto competition skis.

Austrian winter sports manufacturer Fischer Sports has signed a partnership with German fastening technology company fischer Group that covers international ski jumping through 2030. The two companies share a surname by coincidence, not ownership, and the agreement marks the first time the fischer brand will appear on Fischer Sports equipment.

The collaboration adds a twist to ski jumping sponsorship. Instead of placing only a partner logo on the skis, Fischer Sports will feature a specific fischer product, the DuoPower universal anchor, one of the fastening company’s best known lines. Athletes are expected to compete on the branded skis for the first time at this year’s Summer Grand Prix, ahead of a broader rollout when the winter season begins.

A new team is being assembled over the summer. From the start of the winter season, more than 25 international ski jumpers are expected to compete on Fischer skis carrying the fischer brand, with visibility spanning major jumping venues in Europe and Japan as well as international television broadcasts.

About the companies: Fischer Group, headquartered in Waldachtal in Germany’s northern Black Forest, is a family-owned fastening-technology company; it generated revenue of €1.05 billion in 2025 with approximately 4,800 employees, operates 51 subsidiaries worldwide, exports to roughly 120 countries, and is organized into four divisions: fischer Fastening Systems, fischertechnik, fischer Consulting and fischer Electronic Solutions; Fischer Sports is an Austrian manufacturer of Nordic skiing equipment, with a long-standing presence in cross-country skiing and ski jumping gear.
