SGS, one of the world’s largest testing, inspection and certification companies, announced its net-zero transition plan. In this plan, SGS commits to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. As part of this goal, the company is targeting a 46 percent reduction in absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions and a 28 percent reduction in absolute Scope 3 emissions by 2030, compared to its 2019 baseline. Corporate sustainability is an integral part of SGS strategy 2027.
The company has also set targets for the social and governance dimensions of ESG. By 2027, it will promote diversity, equity and inclusion, with at least one-third of leadership positions held by women. SGS will also strive to strengthen its position as an education leader by providing 7 million hours of training annually to employees, customers and communities. It will strengthen its leadership in business conduct by increasing its customer satisfaction score from 90 to 93 percent.
