Decathlon has reinforced its commitment to sustainability by partnering with Recyc’elit, a pioneering startup specializing in the recycling of complex textiles. Founded in Lyon, France, in 2020 by PhD scientists Karim and Raouf Medimagh, Recyc’elit has introduced a technology for separating materials such as polyester, elastane, and polyamide, enhancing the potential for recycled products.

This collaboration aligns with Decathlon’s strategic emphasis on sustainability and circularity, integral to its investment approach to shaping the future of the recycling industry. The partnership is set to debut a demonstrator in 2025, showcasing the practical application of Recyc’elit’s chemical recycling processes.

“We are very pleased to partner with Recyc’elit, with whom we share common values and a commitment to drive positive change across the textile industry and beyond, said Franck Vigo, Chief of Alliances and New Business at Decathlon. ”To truly contribute to the decarbonization of our planet, we must support and surround ourselves with the brightest minds and the most committed and innovative partners. It’s not just about finding solutions; it’s about nurturing them, refining them, and scaling them for impact.”

The partnership aims not only to reduce textile waste but also to develop capsule collections and build a collaborative value chain.
