Nike continued to outperform various fashion retailers this year in terms of visits to its website on a global basis, according to an annual study by Semrush that uses Google data. Monthly visits to its websites averaged 120 million so far this year, 3.3 percent below the level of 2020, but well ahead of Macy’s, which grabbed 111.5 million visits. Visits to Nike’s websites peaked in August, rising by more than 11 million above the monthly average, in connection with the brand’s annual Nike SNKRS Day on Aug. 8.
Macy’s was followed in the ranking by the fast-fashion website of Shine, which experienced a 72.2 percent increase from 2020. It was followed by H&M, which had led the rankings in 2019, and by Zara, Gap and Asos.
Looking at major sports events, the NBA topped Semrush’s rankings with 80 million average monthly visits and a peak of 185 million on a particular month. It was followed by the Champions League, the Euro 2020 football tournament, Copa América, Wimbledon, the Olympics, Roland-Garros, the U.S. Open and the Australian Open.
