In 2020, online sales of sporting goods in Russia jumped by a factor of 10 as compared to the previous year, according to a research company, OFD. Dumbbells, yoga and fitness mats, resistance bands, and treadmills were particularly popular among Russian customers. Coronavirus-related lockdowns drove a sharp growth in e-commerce segment. The closure of sporting grounds and fitness centers pushed Russians to go in for sports at home, and over the past ten months, the market for online sales of sports goods has been showing constant and significant growth. Online sales of sporting goods in Russia were exceptionally high at the beginning of the pandemic and in September-October, when its second wave struck.
