European online fashion and lifestyle platform Zalando has announced that it will soon launch a beta version of a fashion assistant powered by ChatGPT across its web and app platforms. The OpenAI technology will allow customers to ask questions using their own words, helping them navigate Zalando’s assortment more intuitively. For example, suppose a customer asks for advice about what to wear for a wedding in a specific location. In that case, Zalando’s fashion assistant can understand that this is a formal event, what the weather is in that location at that particular time of the year, and therefore, to provide recommendations for clothing based on that input, the company explained. The first beta version of Zalando’s fashion assistant will be made available to a select group of customers by this spring, with support in both English and German in Germany, Austria, the U.K. and Ireland.
