The infrastructure was designed from inception to serve well beyond the Games.
The Aquatics Center Paris has reopened to the public and is now a permanent facility. During the Paris 2024 Olympics, it staged Olympic and Paralympic diving, water polo ,and artistic swimming competitions. The Olympic Aquatics Center is located in Seine-Saint-Denis, a densely populated suburb in the north of Paris and “one of the most underserved areas for sports infrastructure,” noted the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in a statement.
The Olympic Aquatics Center was constructed in under three years and delivered on time on the former industrial site of Plaine Saulnier, near the Stade de France. Its 90-meter, ultra-thin hanging roof is made from 90 percent bio-sourced French wood from sustainably managed forests.

The facility will continue to blend high performance and public use. In 2026, it will serve as a key site for the European Swimming Championships. It also serves as an elite pole for the French Swimming Federation.
In the coming weeks, the Olympic rings will be installed on the façade of the facility, which will also be formally named the “Centre Aquatique Olympique Métropole du Grand Paris,” said the IOC.
