Nike has presented two developments in performance footwear with sustainability in mind. The Pegasus Turbo Next Nature is made with at least 50 percent recycled material by weight. The running shoe uses 100 percent recycled Flyknit yarns in the upper. The Flyknit yarn is dyed in a process that reportedly saves 70 liters of water per kilogram. The midsole of the shoe is made with at least 55 percent recycled ZoomX foam. Nike introduced the first Peg Turbo in 2018. The Mercurial Vapor Next Nature, a new iteration of the brand’s iconic football shoe, is also made with at least 50 percent recycled content by weight. Its chassis, the midsole plate, the heel counter and the upper are made with 100 percent recycled materials from manufacturing waste. Nike’s Vapor originally debuted in 1998.
