Swedish company Stiga Sports, already well established in the table tennis and padel segments, is expanding its focus to tennis. There are an estimated 400,000 active players in Sweden alone, with 105,000 registered, so the market is huge, according to the company. In the first step, three variants of the new Stiga Supreme tennis racket will be introduced: Stiga Supreme, Stiga Supreme Light Weight and Stiga Supreme 26 JR. Swedish professional tennis player Simon Freund has been testing the rackets since the spring.
The leap from table tennis to tennis may seem big, but in fact, the two sports have stuck together at Stiga Sports since the company was founded in 1944. For tennis, however, it has been intermittent. “In the 1970s, a very promising Växjö native at the time, Mats Wilander, actually played with a Stiga racket,” said John Bandstigen, Product Manager at Stiga Sports. “Now we have returned to our roots in tennis and are proud to present a high-quality tennis range. Stiga Supreme offers a fantastic playing experience for men’s, women’s and youth players.”
The new racquets will be available for pre-order on www.stigasports.com from Sept. 15.
