French sneaker retailer Courir is considering the sale of 15 of its French stores to Snipes, according to Fashion Network. German chain Snipes, one of Courir’s competitors, entered the French market in 2018 and currently operates 34 stores across France. Courir operates around 260 stores in the country, of which around 60 are affiliates.
The deal would involve five stores in the Rouen metropolitan area, three in the Nice agglomeration, two in Dijon and additional units in Antibes, Arras, Auxerre, Cannes and Noyelles-Godault.
Meanwhile, the acquisition of Courir by JD Sports, first proposed more than a year ago, is still awaiting finalization and has been under the European Union’s scrutiny since summer 2024. According to sources, the sale of the 15 Courir stores to Snipes could be a way to help mitigate potential risks of the acquisition being blocked, reports Fashion Network, which however adds that representatives of all three companies involved – Courir, JD Sports and Snipes – declined to comment on this information.
