The Adidas Group has teamed up with two popular young Chinese athletes to launch One in a Billion, an advertising campaign made for the Chinese market. The two athletes are Ning Zetao, a freestyle swimmer, and Hui Ruoqi, a volleyball champion. The campaign fits with Creating the New, the five-year strategy adopted by the Adidas Group, as well as Adidas' ambition to become the “best” sports brand in China by 2020. Ning Zetao was the first Asian gold medal champion in the 100-metre freestyle at the World Championships, while Hui Ruoqi was a prominent member of the gold medal-winning women's volleyball team at the Rio Olympics. Colin Currie, managing director of the Adidas Group in Greater China, said in a statement that the company is aiming to accelerate the pace of sport development nationwide and inspire more Chinese people to embrace their individuality through sport. Early in 2016 the company launched one of its largest campaigns, I'm Here to Create, aiming to raise participation among Chinese women. It then teamed up with influential Chinese athletes such as Coco Xu, the tennis player, and the Chinese women's national volleyball team.
