The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games are set to be the most broadcast covered in history. Paris 2024 and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) have confirmed that media rights holders in more than 160 countries and territories have committed to broadcasting the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, which will start on Aug. 28, 2024. The overall revenues raised from media rights sales have increased by more than 20 percent from Tokyo 2020, which was shown in 154 countries and territories to a cumulative 4.1 billion viewers.
Furthermore, Paris 2024 will be the first edition of the Paralympic Games to offer some live coverage from each of the 22 sports. At Tokyo 2020, 19 sports were broadcast, while at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, 15 sports were shown live.
In the host country, France Televisions will broadcast the event, with Radio France and RMC having secured radio rights. Channel 4 is the rights holder in the UK and will screen its fourth successive summer Paralympic Games.
According to data from Nielsen, interest in the Paralympic Games has more than doubled in the last eight years, reminded John Lisko, managing director of IPC Global Media Rights, in a statement, and this interest is reflected in the increased commitment by the media.
