FIGS, a Los Angeles-based medical apparel company known for premium scrubs, has signed alpine skiing champion Lindsey Vonn to a partnership as the 41-year-old athlete prepares for competitive racing at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano-Cortina.

The deal represents FIGS’ entry into elite athlete sponsorship and signals potential expansion beyond its core healthcare market.

Vonn, who retired in 2019 as the most decorated female skier in World Cup history with 82 victories, announced her comeback in December 2025 after undergoing partial knee replacement surgery. The partnership with FIGS will support her training and competition schedule as she attempts to qualify for what would be her fifth Olympic appearance.

FIGS partners with skiing legend Lindsey Vonn

The partnership marks a departure for FIGS, which built a $400 million business selling direct-to-consumer medical uniforms. The company has not previously aligned with professional athletes in traditional sports. FIGS indicated the partnership reflects shared values around performance, recovery, and pushing physical boundaries—themes central to both healthcare workers and elite competitors.

Financial terms were not disclosed. FIGS will provide Vonn with apparel for training and recovery, though the company has not announced plans to develop alpine skiing-specific products. The arrangement suggests FIGS may be testing athlete partnerships as a brand-building strategy before potentially moving into activewear or performance recovery categories.

Vonn’s comeback: A bet on herself and a brand challenge

Vonn’s comeback attempt has drawn significant media attention and skepticism from skiing analysts who question whether an athlete with a history of serious injuries can compete at Olympic level after five years away from World Cup racing. Her partnership roster already includes Red Bull, Head, and Oakley—established players in winter sports—making FIGS an unconventional addition.

The partnership’s commercial logic depends partly on Vonn’s ability to qualify for and compete in Italy. U.S. Ski & Snowboard requires athletes to meet World Cup points thresholds, and Vonn will need strong results in upcoming races to secure an Olympic spot. If successful, FIGS may have scored their best brand association ever.
