As stress levels rise, wellness travel is booming – but it often doesn’t offer the expected results. This is at least what Asics claims. That’s why Asics promotes on World Mental Health Day an “Everyday Escape”.

On World Mental Health Day 2025 (October 10), Asics and its newest wellbeing ambassador, actor and wellness advocate Natasha Rothwell, invite the world to take an “Everyday Escape.” According to a recent report by Euromonitor, titled Traveller Segmentation: Unlock Innovation and Value in Wellness Tourism, the global demand for wellness holidays has surged by 33 percent in the last year, but new global research by Asics has shown that a simple 15-minute movement break delivers more lasting benefits than a week at a wellness retreat.
The Asics Everyday Escape Trial ran from Aug. 4-18, 2025, overseen by scientist and innovator Brendon Stubbs of King’s College London and University of Vienna. The trial studied 17 people from the UK, US and Australia who had been at a wellness holiday/retreat over the past year. The trial was reinforced by a global survey of 11,000 people and aligned with external scientific evidence.
Participants who took a daily 15-minute movement break reported a 21 percent greater uplift in their overall mental state compared to their wellness holiday. For 71 percent of participants, daily movement was indeed more effective at reducing stress, while 65 percent found it more mood-enhancing and 73 percent reported longer-lasting mental wellbeing benefits than after their recent wellness holiday.
