The Head Renew skis can be dismantled into their individual parts at the end of their service life.
Thanks to a new technology in ski construction, Head has developed a new range of skis, dubbed Head Renew skis, which can be dismantled into their individual parts at the end of their service life.
The Head Renew is an all-mountain ski, made with a wood core cap construction. It consists of a vertically laminated wood core with fiberglass reinforcement and a top sheet that runs the entire length of the ski. According to an internal study, the wooden core in the Head Renew skis can be reused up to five times with the same level of performance. The fiberglass and ABS suspension inserts can also be reused for new skis, claims the company. The other components such as the tail protector, top sheet, steel edges and the base layer can be recycled.

The Head Renew launched on Feb. 20 in lengths of 160cm and 170cm only via the website www.head.com in Euro countries. To make sure that the skis are reused and recycled, they need to be returned to Head within one to five years of use, following the instructions on the brand’s website. Returning the Head Renew skis also means being rewarded with a €100 voucher, said the company.
Launched in 1950 in Austria, today Head comprises five divisions: Winter Sports, Racquet Sports, Water Sports, Sportswear and Licensing. It sells products under the brands Head, Penn, Tyrolia, Mares, SSI, rEvo, LiveAboard, Zoggs and Indigo.
