Nike is partnering with NFL clubs to help Native Americans and Indigenous youth become involved in football. Through Nike’s five-year, $3.2 million commitment, each NFL club can receive $20,000 per year to collaborate with local indigenous non-profits and other organizations and support football-based programs for young people in Native American communities.

As an example, the Minnesota Vikings plan to use the funding to provide more opportunities for clinics, equipment donations and other efforts, said Nike in a statement. The Vikings intend to offer special experiences for the Twin Cities’ Native American community, including a training camp with VIP access and tickets to the team’s games.

According to research from the World Health Organization (WHO), only one in five kids get the physical activity they need to thrive, and kids in certain communities, like youth in Native American and indigenous communities across North America, face more challenges to stay active than others.
