The Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry (FESI) held its general assembly at an unusual location, this year’s ISPO Munich, to mark the show’s post-lockdown reopening.
At the meeting, FESI reappointed president Neil Narriman for a new three-year term and elected a new board, with representatives from five brands (Nike, Adidas, Puma, Pentland and VF Corp.) and nine national and regional organizations (Afydad, Assosport, BSI, EOG, FGHS, FSPA, Union Sport & Cycle, Sportsbranchen DK and VSSÖ). The federation also welcomed three new members: Intersport, Lululemon and Deichmann.
Among the matters on the horizon for FESI are the conclusion of the Free Trade Agreement between the EU and Indonesia, the General Regulation on Product Safety, sustainability initiatives connected with the European Green Deal and the federation’s “StrongHer” campaign to promote sport among girls.
The Strategic Development Plan, to run through 2025, will provide for the development of new services, the creation of working committees and task forces, the reorganization of the Secretariat’s departments and a new interconnectivity strategy.
Also, long-serving Mark Held is stepping down as treasurer and vice president and was awarded honorary membership in FESI for life. As our sister publication, The Outdoor Industry Compass, has reported, Held is stepping down also from the European Outdoor Group (EOG).
