Decathlon has joined the Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry (FESI) as a member.
The move formalizes the French company’s ongoing engagement in EU-level advocacy and reinforces FESI’s collective voice in Brussels on issues such as sustainability, fair competition and Single Market harmonization.

Known for its investments in circularity, new business models, and product accessibility to a wider audience, the world’s largest sporting goods retailer is expected to contribute expertise to regulatory discussions, including the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation and the Green Claims Directive. The company has previously collaborated with FESI through initiatives like the Winter Sport Sustainability Network.
Decathlon to support health, sports and mobiliity goals
FESI Secretary General Jérôme Pero welcomed the membership, highlighting Decathlon’s operational insights across compliance, service innovation, and multi-market strategy. Decathlon’s Public Affairs Director for Europe, Koen Tengrootenhuysen, said the company looks forward to supporting sport participation and EU-wide health and mobility goals through the partnership.
Decathlon will participate in FESI’s steering committees and task forces, adding to a network of industry players shaping the future of sport policy in Europe.
