Michael Murray, the new CEO of Frasers Group, posted on LinkedIn on May 31 that five weeks into his tenure, part of his commitment is to “get the right people on board, to lead Frasers Group into the future and build on our solid foundations.” According to the posting (there has been no official press release), he informed all Frasers Group employees the same morning of “some new appointments which will accelerate the Group’s strategy.”

These include the promotion of Beckie Stanion from Sports Direct’s chief marketing officer to CMO for the entire group. “Beckie has played a crucial role in delivering our industry applauded campaigns and will continue to transform and deliver our visions across the Group,” Murray wrote.

Ger Wright will be the group’s new managing director of sports. He joins Frasers after 16 years at Nike “with a wealth of incredible experience that will be invaluable to our future. Nike is a strategic partner for us, and Ger’s appointment is a real testament to our elevation strategy.”

In addition, David Epstein, who has been with the group for seven years, has been named managing director of premium and luxury. He will play a key role in maximizing growth in Fraser’s luxury and premium divisions.

Other key additions and promotions within the group include Sarah Kemp (promoted to group head of business transformation), Russell Merry (joining the group as managing director of cycling/wheeled goods, previously having held leadership positions at Pacific Cycle UK and Cycling Sport Group), Daniel Summerson (head of Everlast Gyms), Ronnie Laffar (promoted to group head of PR and communications), Sanjay Dhiman (group head of store development with 16 years experience at Primark) and others, about which Murray gave no details.
