The online marketplace StockX reports in its Big Facts: The Verification Report, which covers the twelve months to May 31, 2024, that it used its verification methods to reject over 400,000 suspected counterfeit products worth almost $85 million. This is around 100,000 more counterfeits than in the previous year. In addition, more than 100,000 counterfeits were excluded from trading on the platform, including more than 40,000 sneakers.
For the first time, StockX also broke down the categories most susceptible to counterfeiting in its report: Apparel accounts for 54 percent, sneakers for 33 percent. This year’s number one was the Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Zebra, followed by the Big A’s Campus 00s Core Black and the Jordan 4 Retro Black Cat. Fear of God hoodies dominated the apparel category for the second time this year.
Detroit-based StockX now operates inspection centers in North America, Europe and Asia, and almost half of all transactions last year were from international sellers.
