The new national competition taps into record growth in the four-ball format, offering affiliated clubs a structured team pathway for women and girls at a time when female participation in English golf is at an all-time high.

A 68 percent surge in four-ball scores submitted for handicap purposes in 2025 has provided the backdrop for England Golf to introduce a new national competition aimed squarely at women and girls: the Titleist Women’s Four-Ball.

England Golf’s sustained focus on growing the women’s game has delivered significant results in recent years, with female golfers submitting more than 151,000 additional scores in 2025 — a 14 percent increase year-on-year. The Titleist Women’s Four-Ball is designed to build on that momentum by giving affiliated clubs a structured competitive route at national level.

How it works

The competition is open to all clubs affiliated to England Golf. Each club is invited to stage its own women’s four-ball Stableford qualifier and submit its winning pair by July 8. The highest-scoring pair from each club qualifier advances as that club’s official entry to a National Final. Titleist, as title sponsor, will present every finalist with a special prize, with additional awards for the top three pairs at the National Final.

Why it matters

Female club membership in England remains relatively low, underscoring how much headroom remains for growth in the organized women’s game. Yonder Competitions that lower the barrier to team participation – particularly in accessible formats like four-ball Stableford – are widely recognized as a key mechanism for converting casual players into active club members.

For Titleist, the partnership represents a direct play for visibility within the women’s amateur game in England. Michael Creighton, Brand Director at Titleist, said the competition “shines a light on the passion, skill, and camaraderie that define the women’s game” — framing the sponsorship around authenticity rather than pure commercial reach.
