Adidas has partnered with Geek+, a specialist in mobile robots for logistics, to announce the opening of its state-of-the-art automated distribution center in Suzhou, China. The 139,000-sqm fully automated warehouse and distribution center sets a new industry standard with its high level of speed and flexibility in warehouse logistics. It can process more than one million items per day and has a capacity of ten million garments and shoes in its facilities.
Geek+’s robotic logistics solution was deployed to address several of Adidas’ logistics and warehousing challenges. These included adjustments in item position recognition, a significant improvement in operational reliability, and a perfect match for human-machine collaboration requirements. The solution also optimized the efficiency of robot handling through intelligent scheduling logic, increasing overall efficiency and improving the work experience of employees in the logistics center, which in turn increased employee retention.
“With the establishment of this center, Adidas aims to ramp up supply chain responsiveness, boost operational efficiency, and elevate the consumer experience,” Harm Ohlmeyer, Global Chief Financial Officer of Adidas said. “We envision these logistics advancements to provide valuable insights for Adidas’ global expansion.”
“Adidas and Geek+ have a longstanding and robust collaborative foundation, and this inauguration marks a significant milestone in the partnership between the two and stands as a crucial innovation within the industry,” added Yong Zheng, founder and CEO of Geek+.
