Asics has teamed up with UK-based organization Inclusive Sportswear and mental health charity Mind to reimagine girls’ school physical education kits. Nearly three-quarters (70%) of girls aged 14 to 16 would be more likely to participate in physical education (PE) if their kit made them feel more comfortable, according to new research commissioned by Asics. The Undropped Research, conducted between March and April 2025, surveyed 2,000 14-16-year-old girls in the UK. Among the key reasons cited by girls for feeling uncomfortable in their current PE kit are: “lack of choice,” “uncomfortable fabrics,” “shapeless design,” “suitability for different weather conditions,” “period concerns” and “sweat absorption and visibility.”
The Undropped Kit has been designed to maximize comfort and improve girls’ participation in school sport. The new kit concept benefited from input from teenage girls across the UK. The Undropped Kit was tested by secondary school girls at Burnley High School, identified by Sport England as one of the regions in the UK with the lowest participation in physical education.
