The German Football League (DFL) is now implementing climate-neutral media production for all 612 Bundesliga and scond league matches, as well as the Relegation and Super Cup, with the support of ClimatePartner. As announced at the end of July, DFL, in close cooperation with media partner Sky, will initially offset the greenhouse gas emissions generated by the media production of the matches with the support of ClimatePartner and will also work intensively on measures to reduce emissions consistently. The selection of appropriate climate protection projects, which DFL and Sky will financially support, will be made in consultation with ClimatePartner. At the same time, DFL subsidiary Sportcast, which produces the base signal for all matches for national and international media partners, is analyzing potential savings and is already working on a multi-stage reduction plan. The move toward climate-neutral media production follows key measures taken by the DFL on the subject of sustainability in recent months, which are being steadily developed and expanded. Sky is also working intensively on the issue of climate protection. The DFL media partner has set itself the goal of reducing its own carbon footprint to net zero by 2030. Sky is not only reducing the emissions caused directly by the company but is also looking at the entire value chain.
