The Oberalp Group has announced the acquisition of Velotex from Pongs Velours. Velotex specializes in the production of mohair velvet, which is an essential product for ski touring skins, and other products for skiing. The closing of the transaction is scheduled for Jan. 1, 2022. The takeover allows Oberalp to secure an essential raw material for the production of its Pomoca ski mountaineering skins. It turns Pomoca into the first ski touring skin manufacturer to hold the entire supply and production chain in one hand, from yarn to finished product. Almost 100 percent of the Velotex’ mohair woven products are already being manufactured for the Swiss-based Pomoca brand at its German factory at Wermelskirchen, based in Lausanne/Denges, Switzerland. This long-standing cooperation between Pomoca and Velotex convinced the management of the Oberalp Group to integrate the former trusted supplier into its own group, thereby making. Velotex is also a supplier of skins for the touring skis of important brands such as Dynafit, K2, Blizzard and Black Crows. More about the topic in the Outdoor Industry Compass.
