Atomic, a leader in the winter sports industry and part of Amer Sports, has released its 2024 Impact Statement, detailing the company’s ongoing sustainability initiatives and future plans. The statement reflects Atomic’s science-based strategy to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 50 percent by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. This includes transitioning to renewable energy and implementing advanced recycling methods.

The company’s approach is built around three pillars: transforming its value chain, innovating for sustainable performance, and fostering collaboration. One of the highlights from this year’s report is Atomic’s use of 100 percent renewable electricity at its production facilities in Altenmarkt, Austria. The company also shares progress on life cycle assessments and environmentally friendly production processes for its ski and boot lines.

In early 2023, Atomic launched a boot recycling program with 61 retailers in Austria, collecting over 2,500 pairs and saving 10 tons of material from landfills. The recycled plastic from the old boots is used to create new boot shells with even higher recycled content.

Atomic hosted the inaugural Ski Industry Climate Summit, a significant step in driving industry-wide change, where industry leaders came together to form the Ski Industry Climate Pact. This collaboration underscores the brand’s belief that collective action is necessary to combat climate change in the skiing sector.
