SportsShoes.com has announced sales figures for its Q1 of the fiscal year that began March 1, 2023. According to the report, the British e-tailer, which was founded in 1982, saw its sales surge by 20 percent year-on-year to £83.8 million (€97.3m). At the same time, it added 140,000 new customers during the same period. The online retailer of running shoes, running apparel and outdoor gear also announced that it received orders from 200,000 repeat customers in the first quarter. The company offers more than 17,000 products from 150 global running and outdoor brands. In the running segment, these include Asics, Nike, Adidas, Hoka and New Balance, while in the outdoor segment, they include Haglöfs, Montane, Rab and Patagonia.
Highlight products and activations generate sales success
SportsShoes.com attributes this exceptionally strong start to the year to a combination of successful running shoe launches – including Nike Vaporfly 3, Asics Gel-Nimbus 25 and Hoka Clifton 9 – and some high-impact activation initiatives. The latter included its Podium 5K breaking 10 event, where British distance runner Emile Cairess broke the European 10-mile run record, and numerous other partnerships with the wider athlete community. These included initiatives with Black Trail Runners, District Run Crew and Snappy Runners. “We have developed strong momentum over our first quarter and hope to carry this on throughout the rest of our financial year,” commented SportsShoes.com CEO Brett Bannister.
These latest news follow SportsShoes.com’s announcement that it has opened a 1000-square-meter creative and technology center adjacent to its headquarters and warehouse facilities in Bradford, England. The center, named Unit 2, provides space for 100 employees over two floors and represents a £2.5 million (€2.9m) investment as part of the company’s ongoing strategic growth plan. Unit 2 now houses the company’s digital, marketing, retail and management teams.
