Intersport Germany continues to expand the range of omni-channel services for its retail members. Most recently, the German-based retail cooperative opened new channels for targeted sales on third-party platforms.
In addition to its own online platform, intersport.de, which operates out of its headquarters in Heilbronn, the company is now offering to its members the possibility to put up old inventories on sale through a “Budget Sport” online store on Amazon. First launched in 2006 by Intersport's Finnish franchisee, Budget Sport is the banner that affiliated retailers in certain countries are using to liquidate excess stock, starting with physical stores followed three years later by a virtual store.
Intersport Germany has also signed an agreement with a local internet portal for independent retailers, called SportMarken24. Intersport's retail members can sell their products through a simple interface on SportMarken24.de. A prerequisite is that members must have their own digital inventory management system.
The SportMarken24 internet portal was launched in February 2018 by Dominik Benner, a German shoe retailer and former member of ANWR's supervisory board who has been very successful with a similar footwear-specific website, Schuhe24. Benner's wife, Valeska Benner, manages the high-reach sports retail platform.
Intersport is also offering its retailers support in making their e-commerce activities more professional. This includes services such as product and master data maintenance, content control and search-engine optimization.
