H&M MOVE chose Barcelona as the staging ground for a global launch event combining a media presentation, a panel on running culture, and a community 5K race – positioning its spring running collection at the intersection of performance, identity, and accessible pricing.

H&M MOVE staged what the company described as an unprecedented global launch event in Barcelona on March 19 to present its spring 2026 running collection – a men’s and women’s range built around performance fabrics and functional design, positioned as an affordable alternative to specialist sportswear labels during the marathon season.

The event, titled “H&M Moves Barcelona,” was held at the Los Tinglados venue in the city’s La Barceloneta port district and combined a media presentation with a panel discussion and a 5K community race. Spain received the collection exclusively from March 19, with the international rollout – via selected stores and hm.com – following on March 26.

H&M joins brands courting the running community

H&M is positioning the Move label explicitly around running community, a segment that has grown significantly across European cities through club culture and social participation events. The afternoon program included a 5K race organized in partnership with Barcelona running clubs Itinerari, Running Club Barcelona, and Revel, drawing more than 200 participants including local runners, content creators, and athletes.

The morning session featured a panel discussion titled “Running Shapes Culture,” moderated by a radio presenter and running-club founder. Panellists included a trend analyst, a food-brand entrepreneur and run-club founder, a Spanish designer and H&M MOVE’s head of design. The discussion examined how sport, fashion and community intersect in running culture, and how the collection was designed to respond to that convergence.

A muted pastel palette to stand out in a neon-heavy category

Fredros and Robin Wrangel, product developer for H&M MOVE’s menswear line, outlined the design brief at the morning event. The range uses DryMove, H&M’s moisture-management fabric, alongside perforated ventilation panels and reflective details for low-light running. Garments include phone and headphone pockets, straps on trousers and leggings to secure layering pieces, and perforations on tops intended to accommodate race numbers.

The silhouette range spans fitted and relaxed shorts, technical vests, support bras, tanks, removable-sleeve tops, caps and sunglasses.

The color palette departs from the neon and fluorescent tones common in running apparel. The women’s collection uses dusty pinks, aquamarine blues and butter yellows, while the men’s range stays largely within whites, blacks and muted grey-green tones. The styling aligns with a broader shift toward softer, fashion-adjacent palettes in performance wear, a direction also pursued at higher price points by labels including On and Lululemon.
