The Bundesverband der Deutschen Sportartikel-Industrie (BSI) has launched a new specialist group focused on team sports, aiming to enhance industry collaboration around shared challenges, including political advocacy, digitalization, and sustainability. The initiative responds to the ongoing need for structural support for local sports clubs and volunteers, particularly in light of current attention on the UEFA Women’s Euro.
Initial members of the new working group include major players such as Adidas, Puma, JAKO, Bauerfeind, MTS Sport, Jobasport, Kübler Sport and Polygiene, representing various product categories within team sports.
Focus on youth participation and grassroots sports
One of the group’s core priorities is promoting physical activity among children and adolescents. Key issues under discussion include access to club sports, staffing in youth development and the implications of expanded all-day schooling. The goal is to develop practical approaches to better integrate schools, clubs and industry players to ensure more movement in children’s everyday lives.
Tobias Röschl, board member at JAKO, and Matthias Fritz, director sports marketing at Adidas, were elected as chairs in June and will lead the group in cooperation with the BSI office. The association is encouraging other brands, importers and wholesalers in the team sports sector to join and contribute to the initiative.
