John Miller

Adidas has named a new President for its North American operations. John Miller is a familiar face at the company: He worked with sales for three years before moving on to Nike, where he was from 2006 to 2017. Most recently, Miller was SVP of Puma North America’s wholesale business. At Adidas North America, Miller is responsible for overseeing the company’s operations in the US and Canada, effective immediately, and will be based in Portland, Oregon, reporting to Arthur Hoeld, Adidas’ Executive Board member heading global sales. Miller replaces Rupert Campbell, who left the company last fall.

Miller joins Adidas at an interesting time as the company struggles to regain momentum in the US after the problems with Yeezy and Kanye West. Adidas’ CEO, Bjorn Gulden, said during a conference call in November that the company’s sales in the US “will probably not grow at all in the first half of 2024.” This is mainly due to the inventories in North America, which are reducing more slowly than in other regions. A key question Miller will have to address in 2024 is whether the company will resume sales of its remaining Yeezy inventory, which could significantly impact the company’s growth in the region.
