The Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (OCOG) for Paris 2024 has unveiled the “Look of the Games,” as the committee describes it in a statement.
The visual identity of the upcoming Olympics was presented on Feb. 8 in Paris in the presence of Tony Estanguet, president of Paris 2024; Emmanuel Grégoire, first deputy mayor of Paris; Laurent Mazaury, sports vice president of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines; Julie Matikhine, brand director of Paris 2024; and Jérôme Fernandez, former international handball player and double Olympic champion, in 2008 and 2012.
The presentation included the 62 pictograms, one for each Olympic and Paralympic discipline at the Games, represented in the form of coats of arms. This stylistic choice marks an innovation with respect to previous editions of the Games. Until now, the pictograms have been rather simple, informative and universal symbols that represent each sporting discipline.
These pictograms will be featured for the first time on the Games’ ticketing website in mid-February, during the sale of the “Make Your Games” packs. Logos and pictograms were introduced for the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo as a way to identify the various Olympic disciplines.
