About ten years after Suunto’s first app platform, Suunto AppZone, the Finnish GPS sports watch and dive computer specialist is now bringing the new SuuntoPlus Guides to its Suunto 9, Suunto 5 and Suunto 3 watch models. The new SuuntoPlus Guides provide athletes with personalized real-time guidance from their favorite sports services directly to the watch. On the other hand, sports services have the opportunity to bring their product developments to a wearable device without a large investment. 14 different companies have already added their features, and more are on the way.

One of the main benefits of SuuntoPlus Guides is the automatic synchronization of structured training sessions and interval workouts from training and coaching platforms such as TrainingPeaks, Nolïo, I-Run Club and Ultra Trail Coaching with the mentioned watches. Once the coach (or the watch wearer) has scheduled a training session, the workout is automatically synced with the watch for real-time guidance on the right day. Some of the services, like Humango and AI Endurance, add artificial intelligence and machine learning to tailor the workout exactly the way it should be. The new guides can also be helpful for competitions: Spanish startup Gretel makes it possible to create nutrition plans in advance of a contest. For the Golden Trail World Series running events, Suunto has developed race guides that contain important information about the routes. Apps like I-Run Club and GoJoe bring their training tips and challenges to Suunto watches to increase training motivation.

The SuuntoPlus Guides API will be available to all partner companies through the Suunto Partner Program starting March 29. More info at www.suunto.com/suuntoplus.
