The initiatives are expected to generate US$200 million of investment over the next four years to build a better world through sport.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) hosted the first-ever Olympism365 Summit: Sport for a Better World on June 3-5, 2025 in Lausanne. The invitation-only event brought together over 300 participants from more than 100 organizations and 70 countries – including representatives from the Olympic Movement, United Nations (UN) agencies, for-purpose businesses, development and financing institutions, civil society, the safe sport community and IOC Young Leaders – all working towards advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through sport. The event built on the Sport for Sustainable Development Summit, which was held on the eve of the Paris 2024 Olympics in the French capital city.
Olympism365 is the IOC’s strategy to strengthen the role of sport as an enabler for the UN SDGs, in line with Recommendation 10 of Olympic Agenda 2020+5. The Olympism365 strategy was started as part of the reforms that outgoing IOC President Thomas Bach initiated during his presidency. Bach will be replaced by IOC President-elect Kirsty Coventry on June 24, 2025. The Olympism365 strategy aims to: ensure that more people, from more diverse backgrounds, benefit from participating in community sports programs 365 days a year; improve society’s recognition of the essential service provided by community sports organizations; and enhance collaboration between the sports movement, the social development sector and for-purpose businesses.

The Olympism365 Summit increased collaboration and collective action to drive meaningful impact over the next four years, and culminated with 68 organizations confirming 45 commitments to using sport towards advance the UN SDGs. These initiatives are set to generate over US$ 200 million in value over the next four years, according to the IOC.
Commitments were confirmed under three major categories:
1. Towards healthier, inclusive and thriving communities through sport
2. Building safer sport and safer communities
3. Financing, evidencing and innovating to scale the impact of sport.
The full list of Commitments and Announcements made at the Summit is available on the IOC website.
The participants in the Olympism365 Summit were encouraged to reconvene in 2029 to assess progress on the platform established in Lausanne.
