Twenty percent, instead of ten, lost their jobs as Boozt increased its use of AI.
Boozt, the Swedish e-com giant with a turnover of SEK 8 billion (€0.7bn) in 2024, is further reducing its workforce. SGI Europe has previously reported on the online giant’s cuts. At the time, the notice was set at 10 percent. Boozt’s management has now doubled this to 20 percent.
The cuts were carried out simultaneously as the company implemented new technology and AI to replace certain roles. This has affected several departments within the organization.
“The reorganization has affected roles throughout our organization, excluding the staff at our warehouse in Ängelholm,” said Ask Kirkeskov Riis. “The affected roles are in both commercial teams, marketing, finance and the platform and technology department. I will not go into further details.”
In total, the proportion of permanent employees in the group has been reduced by around 20 percent. Boozt does not want to comment on the exact number of people involved, but, according to the annual report for 2024, the company had 1,157 employees at the end of the year, which translates to a reduction of around 230 jobs.
